The Symposium is an opportunity for both students and faculty members working in bioinformatics and related fields to meet and share ideas. It is also the occasion to mark the start of the new academic year for the Ottawa-Carleton Joint Collaborative Program in Bioinformatics.
Last year (2009), the plenary session was given by Dr. Hervé Philippe, a world-renowned expert in phylogenomics at the Université de Montréal: "Resolving the phylogeny and divergence time of animals: more data or better methods?".
